Atheists ask “is there proof of god?” They ask: Why would a god go thru all of the trouble of creating a world, and not make it known that he created the same? Why would he allow his name to be used for slaughter? Why would he allow injustice?
1. The True Purpose of the Bible
Atheists find fault in the fact that believers argue the existence of God by quoting the bible.
“The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.” – Psalm 14:1
But the bible was not meant to prove the existence of God. It is a compilation of words that is meant to guide our actions and help us get closer to his image. In other words, the Bible assumes the existence of God and it says only a fool does not believe in the existence of God.
Beauty Is God
“I have showed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Acts 20:35
God exists because we see beauty around us. The creation of the earth, the sky, the sea, the plants, animals, and humans, is proof there is a God. How else did the earth get to an exact distance from the sun, allowing life on earth? How else can the ratio of land to water be just right to allow oxygen to exist? This beauty exists for us to enjoy and maintain.
Where Is God When Man Suffers?
“Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God can’t be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.” James 1:13-16
God did not want man to suffer. It is man who causes man to suffer. God gave man rationality and free will. This gift allows man to make his own decisions. We should own up to our mistakes, instead of blaming the creator who has infinite wisdom and love.
“Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” Matthew 6:26
Isn’t it enough that man is able to live each day as proof there is a God? Doesn’t man realize that we have been given rational thought so we can till the soil, fish the seas, harvest crops, and create comfortable dwelling places? These things are given to ease our burden. Let us repay the goodness of the creator and follow in Christ’s footsteps.
