The symbolism of the mirror is about the idea of self-reflection to once mental state. And this thought was recuperated in the words of Maria Shriver when she said “you don’t wanna walk around and say I’m somebody’s niece I’m some body’s cousin, I’m somebody’s daughter. Who are you? And I think that’s always the challenge when you grow up in a well-known family, is ultimately you have to face yourself in the mirror and say:

Who are you? What have you done?

The importance of that object mirror cannot be emphasized it is commonly used for personal grooming and also for scientific apparatus such as telescopes, laser microscope etc. Mirrors are part of our daily lives without us even consciously recognizing them as they are everywhere we go. But one amazing fact about the mirror is that it shows us what we want to see.

They only reflect back what is physically present and cannot do more than that. If you dress in a suit and stand before the mirror it will not show a person on native attire. The mirror tries as much as not to present a false physical appearance of the user.

It is true of the adage that one is addressed the way he is dressed but on a second thought if a well-dressed lawyer behaves like an engineer will there be no doubt as regards the authenticity of his qualification as a lawyer? of course there will be doubts.

The mirror only shows us what we look like and not who we are. Similarly the worlds tells us what we look like and not who we are. The only person that can tell you whom you are is ‘you’

Y – Your

O – Own

U – Uniqueness

It is only your own specialty that can reveal the person in you. In other words if one concentrates in developing him/herself based on people’s opinion or the appearance of another body, the main personality in him/her can never surface there by terminating the potential ingredients of excellence deposited in that being for actualization. Perplexed at the rate people live the life of others by trying to initiate what they do and how they do it. Steve Jobs cautioned that;

“Your time is limited don’t waste it by living someone’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is the living the result of people thinking. And don’t let the noise of others opinion drown your own inner voice. Most importantly, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition; they somehow already know what you truly want to become everything else secondary”.

I was going through the words of John Mason put together in his book “believe you can” and i was stroked at a question he asked “if you are not you then who are you going to be”. Till this very moment. I thought i have not found the answer not until recently i remembered that the mirror cannot show the exact copy of two persons when it is only one that is standing and staring at it. If you are not you then you are nobody. you are lost forever if you continue to live the life of others by concentrating on what people will say about you what they think about your person. A man who has no opinion of his own will continue to be slave. Take responsibility for your life, it is only then will you realize that your fortune are according to your plans. Avoid wanting to be who they want you to be. The privilege of a life time is to become who you truly are and “if you don’t know who you truly are, you’ll never know what you truly want (Joy T. Benett)

Acclimatizing with a particular environment is not the same as changing ones personality in order to please or satisfy others or for them to pass a good judgment about you.

There is nothing beautiful and satisfying than going through your day being the real you unapologetically.

Kenedrick Lamar observed right when he said “I learned when I look in the mirror and tell my story that I should be myself and not peep whatever body is doing”.

Break out from the shell of initiation and stop walking in another man’s shadow. Be real, be who you want to be. The best you can be is you.

There are no two me. There may be someone bearing my name but he can never be me. Try to avoid the role that society foists on you. Be proud to be a self-made product, the master of your own image reflecting what you truly want and not what they want.

Do not change your birth trademark for your star may not locate you when it is time to shine.
